Summary of review and consultation process |
|
Industry consultation for both qualifications began in May 2021 with the Fire Protection industry association and individual companies from the Fixed Fire Protection sub-sector via a face-to-face meeting. This initial consultation identified that the qualifications were broadly satisfactory. The main changes required some adjustment to the credit values of the graduate outcomes and wording changes were made to better reflect industry methods. Once these changes were made a final consultation with the working group over email indicated no further feedback or changes were required, with approval of the outcome of the review. |

New Zealand Certificate in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (Level 3) [Ref: 2574] · Minor wording changes to GPO 2 & 3 to correctly reflect industry practices · Evidence requirements for assuring consistency were updated. · General conditions for programmes were amended to align with industry requirements and provide clarity. · Conditions relating to the graduate profile outcomes were removed to meet NZQA requirements New Zealand Certificate in Passive Fire Protection Systems (Level 4) [Ref: 2581] Industry indicated that the separation of routine compliance inspections and construction monitoring inspections by means of strands would better reflect industry practices where graduates could focus on one or the other. As a result, two new strands (with one new GPO each) were created. GPO 2 was removed, and the credits were redistributed as it formerly reflected the outcomes of the new strands.
