Date new versions published September 2021
Planned review date December 2026
Summary
This is the first of three parts of unit standards reviewed in the Community and Workplace Fire and Emergency Management and Fire and Rescue Services subfields.
Between June 2020 and April 2021, The Skills Organisation together with Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) convened a series of working groups consisting of subject matter experts and organisations with consent to assess to review the unit standards that underpin the training provided to fire and emergency agency personnel. One result of that review was that the unit standards referenced in this change report, grouped as Part 1, remain relevant but require some changes to better reflect competency expectations in the sector.
· Unit standards were moved to the current template.
· Standard setting body was amended from Fire and Rescue Services ITO to The Skills Organisation.
· Changes were made to reflect current terminology used in the sector.
· Guidance information, outcomes, performance criteria, and range statements were updated to reflect current legislation and practices in the sector.
· Unit standard titles were changed to provide more clarity and alignment.
· Level for unit standard 3293 was increased due to the complexity and taking a lead role.
· Credit for unit standard 3283 was decreased to provide a true reflection on training.
