NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) has completed the rollover of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published December 2021
Planned review date December 2025
Summary
These unit standards have been amended to have their planned review date extended to allow for the time needed by the Ministry of Education to develop new Pacific Studies achievement standards. The review of the unit standards is now scheduled for December 2025.
The Ministry of Education is planning to develop a Pacific Studies Achievement Standard subject as part of the NCEA Change Programme. Pacific Studies will be added to the Social Sciences Learning area, complementing the addition of Gagana Tokelau and Vagahau Niue to the Languages Learning Area. Please see the Minister of Education’s press release - Subjects list confirmed for NCEA | Beehive.govt.nz
The Pacific Studies Achievement Standard subject will be designed to embrace the diversity of Pacific peoples and their cultures.
The NCEA Review of Achievement Standards (RAS) for Dance will enable rich engagement with mātauranga Māori, Pacific, and many other cultures. Students in Dance will connect to the wider world by embracing the diversity of people, cultures and contexts, inclusive of the ethnically and culturally diverse dance traditions of the Pacific. New achievement standards will allow schools to validate the traditions and contemporary expressions of Niue dance.
Dance Achievement Standards are still in development. They will not be fully confirmed until after the pilot that is being held next year. Please look here for information about the Big Ideas, Significant Learning, Key Competencies and the Learning Matrix in Dance:

In the light of these developments and given declining usage over time and community demand for achievement standards in this space, a rollover of the Niue Arts and Crafts unit standards has been recommended while the process for the development of new achievement standards is being planned.
