Summary of review and consultation process |
|
The review and consultation were broken into a number of phases: • Internal review – feedback from consistency events, moderation, staff feedback, and anecdotal feedback; • Key stakeholder engagement – via email, Zoom and/or face-to-face engagement; • Open public consultation – via the Skills Active website and newsletter lists; • Stakeholder endorsement of review outcomes – via email; • Internal approval for submission by Senior Management Team (SMT). Consultation feedback showed an ongoing need for the qualifications with little change as they continued to meet industry needs and expectations. |

Main changes resulting from the review |
|
The Graduate Profile Outcomes (GPOs) were updated to strengthen without changing the intent. The Qualification award and consistency event statements were updated to match current NZQA practice. The conditions against the GPOs that were included for guidance purposes only were removed as they were not a requirement for programmes. These will be moved to a new programme guidance document. Those conditions that are a requirement for programmes (the two snowschool instruction qualifications only) have remained in place. The general conditions and other requirements sections were updated to reflect current legislation and publications.
Specific Changes: New Zealand Certificate in Advanced Snowschool Instruction (Applied) (Level 5) with strands Ski, Snowboard, Telemark [Ref: 3496] 1. Advanced has been changed to Intermediate in the title. This title change provides better alignment with the level of instruction being provided and is more consistent with industry terminology and use of ‘intermediate and advanced’ in a snowschool context. 2. An additional strand (Cross-country) has been added. This will serve the growing and changing needs in cross-country snowsport instruction. New title: New Zealand Certificate in Intermediate Snowschool Instruction (Applied) (Level 5) with strands Ski, Snowboard, Telemark and Cross-country [Ref: 3496]. New Zealand Certificate in Introductory Snowschool Instruction (Applied) (Level 4) with strands Ski, Snowboard, Telemark [Ref: 3492] 1. An additional strand (Cross-country) has been added. This will serve the growing and changing needs in cross-country snowsport instruction.
