Summary of review and consultation process

Expressions of interest were sought in June 2020. The External Working Group (EWG) comprising key primary products food processing industry personnel had the responsibility of contributing their expertise to qualification updates as well as liaising with their networks on findings over the duration of the review.  EWG meetings to review the qualifications were held between August and September 2020 via Skype, to ensure that the reviewed qualifications met the current and future needs of the Primary Products Food Processing industries.

EWG members contributed their expertise to qualification updates and liaised with their networks on qualification changes over the duration of the review.  Follow up discussions were carried via Skype meetings and final drafts were sent out by email for wider consultation in October 2020.  Agreement of qualification content was reached; and stakeholder attestation was affirmed.

The recommendations of the EWG were that the current qualifications needed some minor updates with amendments to graduate profile outcomes to meet industry requirements.

The Primary ITO qualification lead is confident that members within the EWG, their roles held within their respective organisations, and the wider consultation process provides an appropriate level of feedback to assess stakeholder opinion, and that the changes made to qualifications reflect current industry requirements both now and over the next five years.
