Summary of review and consultation process

Graduates and employers were surveyed about the qualification to ensure the qualification is relevant and fit for purpose.

Industry consultation was conducted via email, virtual meetings, a questionnaire on the Connexis website and the assessor quarterly and Infrastructure E-newsletter.

The Reference Group of industry technical advisers considered the responses and a consultation feedback summary report was published on the Connexis website to allow for further feedback.

The main issues identified by stakeholders were:

- to revise and strengthen the graduate profile outcomes.

- to strengthen the transmission strand outcome to include wireless technology and radio theory.

- to remove industry standards and replace with industry requirements.

Main changes resulting from the review

The New Zealand Certificate in Telecommunications (Level 3) with strands in Copper Network Maintenance, Optical Fibre Network, and Transmission was reviewed with the following changes made:

- The qualification document was updated to meet current qualification requirements.

- The strategic purpose statement, graduate profile outcomes, evidence for assuring consistency, and general conditions for the programme were revised and updated.
