Summary

 

The scheduled review was conducted in order to ensure these unit standards remain fit-for-purpose for use in programmes leading to the:

 

A technical advisory group was convened to review and confirm the content of the unit standards.

 

In addition, feedback from stakeholders was invited through an open consultation process.

 

Three of the reviewed unit standards were found to no longer be fit for purpose, relevant nor aligned with outcomes listed in the new qualification.

 

Three new unit standards were developed to meet industry needs for people requiring skills in free diving.

 

Main changes

 

·         Three unit standards were set to expire without replacement as they are no longer required.

·         Three new unit standards were developed to meet diving sector need.

·         Guidance information, prerequisites, purpose statements, ranges, outcomes, and performance criteria were updated to reflect current industry practice in the diving sector.

·         Unit standard 4415 moved from the Diving - Occupational domain to the Diving - General domain.

·         Credits for unit standards 8598-8602, 28404, 28409, 28416, 28417, 28419-28422, 28426-28430, and 28432-28434 were amended to better reflect the time required for learning and assessment.

·         The level of unit standards 4415, 8599-8602, 28395, 28403-28405, 28413, 28416-28422, 28426-28430, and 28432-28434 was reduced to align with their content.

·         Some titles were amended to better reflect outcomes and to correct the outdated use of an acronym for ‘scuba’, which is now a word in its own right.

 

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2022

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2022
