Skills Active Aotearoa has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                               March 2021

Planned review date                                                                              December 2025

Summary

These unit standards were reviewed as part of a scheduled review for the Snowsport subfield to ensure that all unit standards are fit for purpose and reflect current industry needs and expectations.

Feedback from stakeholders including industry experts and current users of the unit standards was gathered through an open engagement and consultation process.

Main changes

·         Titles, guidance information, outcomes, and performance criteria were updated to improve readability and consistency of interpretation, and to ensure they are fit for purpose and aligned with current industry practice and terminology.

·         Outcome 2 (theory) was removed from all standards to ensure a focus on building and demonstrating technical competence (Outcome 1).

·         Unit standards were updated to meet current NZQA template requirements.

·         Legislation and industry references were updated for currency.

·         Credits were reduced for standards 4591, 4592, 4596, 4597, 4601, 17468, and 18104 to more accurately reflect the time taken to learn and demonstrate these outcomes, and to account for the removal of theory assessment.

·         Credits were increased for standard 21744 to more accurately reflect the time taken to learn and demonstrate this outcome.

·         Level decreased for standards 4591, 4592, 4596, 4597, 17468, 18104 and 21744 to align with the levels of competence in other standards across the Snowsport subfield.

·         Prerequisites were removed from standards 4591, 4592, 4597 and 18104 as they were not directly relevant to health and safety.

·         Standards 4591, 4592, 4596, 4597, 17468, and 18104 moved from CMR 0050 to CMR 0099.

·         Eight standards were designated expiring as they no longer meet industry need or requirements.

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2022

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2022
