Summary of review and consultation process

A consultation meeting was held in early June 2020, when these qualifications have undergone mandatory review.  Qualification stakeholders were invited to participate, including industry who had previously expressed interest in the Garden Centre strand, to discuss and update the required sector specific sections of these qualifications.

Due to the disruptions that the pandemic had on the garden centre industry in 2020, the Garden Centre strand option was not included in the review undertaken that time.  Consultation for the Garden Centre strand was not pursued until March 2021.   Primary ITO was unable to progress the proposed strand in time for submission of version 2 of these qualifications.

Wider stakeholder consultation was carried out via email in late June 2021 for the proposed Garden Centre strand.  The Garden Centre strand was incorporated in these qualifications where appropriate, and changes discussed at the initial consultation meeting were confirmed by industry stakeholders.

Main changes resulting from the review

·         Garden Centre strand was added.

·         Graduate Profile outcomes for the Garden Centre strand were added.

·         The Employment, Cultural, Community Pathway was amended to include Garden Centre options.

·         The Education Pathway was amended to reflect changes to the strands.

·         New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) [Ref: 2678] credit range was extended from 55-80 to 55 – 90 to include the credit value in the Garden Centre strand.
