In 2020 the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) was approached by the National Association of Steel Framed Housing (NASH), seeking support to establish a nationally recognised qualification for light steel frame detailers. Initial investigation into the training and qualification needs for detailers in the wider construction sectors revealed three additional sectors where detailing functions occur as part of the design and supply of structural elements for the construction industry. The four sectors represented in this application are Light Steel Framing, Structural Steel, Reinforcing Steel and Precast Concrete. In late 2020 the Structural Detailer Working Group was formed, this group is a collective representation of the four manufacturing groups who supply structural steel and concrete elements to the construction and civil infrastructure sectors. The Structural Detailers Working Group includes representation from light steel framing, structural steel, reinforcing steel and steel reinforced concrete (precast concrete) sectors. |
