Summary

The unit standards listed above were reviewed as they had reached their scheduled review date.

A working group made up of stakeholders representing the Riding for Disabled (RDA) met in June to discuss the unit standards.  Changes were recommended to reflect current RDA requirements.

The unit standards were distributed to the parent body of riding for the disabled (referred to as New Zealand Riding for the Disabled [NZRDA]) as well as all riding for disabled affiliated groups located nationally (referred to as Riding for the Disabled [RDA]), and RDA therapists for any further feedback on the amended unit standards.

There are eight consent to assess holders for domain Riding for the Disabled.  As these unit standards are specific to RDA contexts and designed specifically for RDA clients within these contexts the working group recommended that consent to assess holders be informed of the review and the availability of the new versions on the NZQA website. Primary ITO confirmed that consent to assess holders were informed.

Minor changes were recommended from the consultation process, and these were incorporated into the relevant standards following a discussion with the working group.

Main changes

·      Unit standards were updated to the NZQA current template.

·      Minor changes were made to content to ensure consistency across titles, outcomes and performance criteria.

·      Reference details for NZRDA resources was updated.

·      Legislation was updated.

·      The level for unit standard 17041 was reduced from 5 to 4 as the content was more closely aligned to the Level 4 descriptor.

·      Titles were updated for 18 of the unit standards listed in the table below to more accurately reflect the content and to meet NZQA acronyms in titles recommendation.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2022
