Summary

The Radio Frequency Users Association New Zealand (RFUANZ) and the employers in the sector formed a Customer Premises Systems Educational Committee whose role was to provide direct input in the review of the unit standards to support the Wireless Systems training in the New Zealand Certificate in Customer Premises Systems with strands in Structured Cabling, Control and Automation, Signal Reception and Distribution, and Wireless Systems [Ref: 2769].

The unit standards that were originally written for the Mobile and Relocatable Systems context were not used by industry as there was no programme offering and these will be designated expiring as they are now no longer fit for purpose.

Three new unit standards will be registered to fit the context of Wireless Systems as there is current need for the Wireless Systems strand based upon employer demand for qualified service technicians.

Main changes

·      Unit standards 32024, 32025 and 32026 were designated expiring as they do not meet the needs of industry

·      Three new unit standards were developed to meet industry requirements.

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2023
