Summary

A working group made up of key industry stakeholders met in June 2021 to discuss the above unit standards as they were due for mandatory review.  Changes were recommended to reflect current industry requirements.  Industry stakeholders involved with the wider equine industry and consent to assess holders were then contacted in July 2021 by online survey and invited to provide feedback on the amended unit standards.  Minor changes were recommended from the consultation process and these were incorporated where valid.

Unit standard 25441 was reviewed in June 2020 but included in this application to ensure currency and fitness for purpose in the racing industry.

·      Two new unit standards were developed to provide in-depth knowledge of the harness racing industry (32879), and to recognise the practical skills required by the industry (32880).
