Summary

Connexis conducted an early review of unit standards in the Infrastructure Works subfield to align with changes required by a review of three infrastructure qualifications.  Unit standards were reviewed from January to May 2021.

Consultation on the reviewed unit standards was carried out with industry technical advisers and organisations with consent to assess.  The Industry Reference Group endorsed proposed changes.

Main changes

· Titles and content of unit standards were amended to reflect current legislation, industry needs and requirements.

· Unit standards 6478 and 6482 were reclassified to Field Engineering and Technology, Subfield Infrastructure Works, Domain Infrastructure Civil Works from Field Engineering and Technology, Subfield Civil Works and Services as the domain Civil Construction Works is expiring.

· Unit standard 20870 was reclassified to Field Engineering and Technology, Subfield Infrastructure Works, Domain Infrastructure Civil Works from Field Engineering and Technology, Subfield Civil Works and Services as the domain Civil Infrastructure, Health, Safety, and Environment is expiring.

· Unit standards 20866, 20869, 20871, 20872, 20876, 26720, 27201, 27202 were reclassified to Field Engineering and Technology, Subfield Infrastructure Works, Domain Generic Infrastructure Works from Field Engineering and Technology, Subfield Infrastructure Works as the domain Infrastructure Works, Health, Safety, and Environment is expiring.

· Unit standard 20436 was set to expire without replacement as it has low usage and is no longer required.

· The credit total for unit standard 31490 was increased to address industry requirements for learning and assessment.

· One new unit standard 32860 was developed to address a skill gap for advanced excavator operation.

Category D unit standard will expire at the end of December 2022

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2023
