Summary

The purpose of this revision was to revise the guidance information in three Driver Licence Endorsements unit standards, to remove NZS 5433:2012 in two Roadmarking unit standards, and to amend a Temporary Traffic Management unit standard 32208 in line with industry requirements.  Two new unit standards were developed for civil engineering and civil plant operation to address gaps in industry skills and knowledge.

The unit standard revision process and the development of the new unit standards involved email consultation with industry technical advisers during July 2021.

Main changes

·      Guidance information and range statements were updated and NZ Transport Agency was changed to Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency in unit standards 16701, 16702, and 16703.

·      Unit standards 16701, 16702 and 16703 were moved to current template.

·      The review date for unit standards 16701, 16702 and 16703 was rolled over to 31 December 2023.

·      NZS 5433:2012 was removed from unit standards 32271 and 32272 and replaced with Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods 2005.

·      The range statement for unit standard 32208 performance criteria 1.1 was changed in line with industry requirements.

·      A new unit standard was developed to address a skills and knowledge gap in laboratory costing for the civil engineering industry.

·      A new unit standard was developed to address a skills and knowledge gap for operating an excavator for the bulk earthworks industry.
