NZQA Maori Qualifications Services (MQS) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary

 

As a result of the planned standards review cycle, MQS along with the Whakaruruhau, reviewed the Ngā Mahi a Te Whare Pora domain Whāriki and Whatu unit standards to ensure they remain fit for purpose and meet the aspirations and needs of ākonga, as well as whānau, hapū and iwi.

 

Main changes

 

The main changes that were made to the standards include the following:

·                Credits have been increased/decreased for some standards to better reflect the time needed to complete requirements.

·                Some levels of the standards have increased/decreased to better reflect the intricacies of work involved to complete requirements.

·                Minor wording changes have been made to some outcomes and performance criteria for relevancy, consistency and to provide clarity for ākonga and kaiako.

·                Glossaries have been updated.

·                Grammatical errors have been corrected.

·                All Level 5 standards in Whāriki will be expired due to no usage.

·                Standard 7900 will be replaced with standards 32999, 33000, 33004 and 33002 that show a clear pathway and learning progressions through the levels for the domain Whāriki.

·                Grades added to standards 7892 and 7902.

 

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2022

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2022
