Summary of review and consultation process

Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering, and Logistics Workforce Development Council reviewed the New Zealand Certificate in Binding and Finishing qualifications to ensure they were fit for purpose for the print industry sectors. The purpose for the review was based on the scheduled 5-year review cycle. An earlier review was scheduled to accommodate the qualifications’ scheduled next review date and workload of Hanga-Aro-Rau.

A Qualifications Advisory Group was brought together for the consultation review process, which consisted of several stakeholders who represented industry, subject matter experts, industry associations and Te Pūkenga Competenz.

Overall, the consultation process identified minimal changes were required as the current qualifications are fit for purpose currently meeting industry needs.

Main changes resulting from the review

New Zealand Certificate in Binding and Finishing (Level 3)

Graduate profile outcome (GPO) 7 was amended.
GPO 2 condition was removed.
Credit values for GPOs 3, 4 and 6 were amended to accurately reflect the indicative duration of learning and assessment. No change to the qualification credit total.
General conditions for programme information were added.

New Zealand Certificate in Binding and Finishing (Level 4)

Strategic purpose statement wording was amended.
Other requirements for the qualification, and general conditions for programme sections were amended.
All GPO conditions were removed.
