Summary of review and consultation process

This qualification was recommended for expiry as part of a scheduled review.  There has been nil usage since it was listed on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) in February 2016.

Out of School Care services provide education and care to school age children before/after school and during school holidays.  Sector consultation was carried out via survey in April 2022, and feedback suggested that a 60-credit programme of study for this qualification was not practical in this high-churn industry, where workers are part-time and transient.  Barriers to uptake are cost, time and accessibility for assessment.

As there have been no programmes registered against this qualification and therefore no enrolments, Toitū te Waiora confirmed the decision to expire this qualification immediately, with the view of possible development of micro-credentials as supported by 62% of survey respondents.
