Summary

Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council reviewed the commercial road transport and driving unit standards to ensure they were fit-for-purpose for the industry sectors.

Hanga-Aro-Rau was supported by commercial road transport and driver education working groups, including subject matter experts and industry association representatives which formed an advisory group, to review the outdated unit standards.  Four meetings were conducted over the period March to April 2022 involving advisory group members who offered feedback on these unit standards.  The reviewed unit standards were endorsed for listing by the advisory group in April 2022.

Main changes

·      Purpose statements, guidance information, legislation, references, definitions, outcomes, performance criteria and range statements were amended to ensure unit standards are current and fit for purpose.

·      Title of unit standard 14511 was amended to reflect a specific purpose for the learner to demonstrate road transport legislation.

·      Title of unit standard 14523 was amended to align with the Outcomes.

·      Title of unit standard 20180 was amended to include driving context.
