Summary
Careerforce undertook a scheduled review of standards listed above in April 2021, and published them for review by providers with consent to assess on 3 June 2021. Following feedback from the sector, a further review with subject-matter experts took place in August 2021. The standards were re-published for review by providers with consent to assess on 13 September 2021.
Main changes
· Formatting was updated to reflect the current NZQA template.
· Guidance information was updated where relevant to reference currently available reference material, resources, and provide further definitions.
· The language used in outcomes and performance criteria was aligned with current protocols.
· The titles of unit standards 16849,16850, 16853, 16856, 16857, 22250, 22253, 22257, 28539-28541, 28556 and 32202 were changed to better reflect the purpose of the unit standards.
· Unit standard 16843 was set to expire on 31 December 2023 due to low usage.
· Unit standard 16849 was reinstated at the request of industry.
· Following consultation, outcome 3 in 16853 was removed. It was considered that the concentration on speaking te reo Māori in that outcome was out of context with the intent of the standard. Credits was changed from 6 credits to 4 credits as a result.
· Based on assessor feedback around repetition of outcomes across unit standards 16856, 16862 and 28539, the credit value of unit standard 16856 was changed from 5 credits to 4 credits. Outcome 2 (considering boundaries and safety requirements in youth work) was removed, with content moving to 29539.
· Unit standard 16862 was set to expire on 31 December 2025 due to risk management content overlap with standard 28539. Content from outcomes 2 and 3 in 16862 were moved into 28539.
· Unit standard 28539 was re-titled to explicitly cover risk, boundaries, and safety requirements. Content overlaps were thus removed from 16856, 16862 and 28539.
· Unit standard 22253 was moved from level 4 to level 6. Credit remains unchanged. Feedback indicated that the standard was outside the scope of level 4, and would be better assessed at level 6.
· Unit standard 22256 was set to expire on 31 December 2023, this due to replacement of the 2002 Youth Development Strategy Aotearoa by the Mana Taiohi framework in 2020.
Category D unit standards 16843 and 22256 will expire at the end of December 2023
Category D unit standard 16862 will expire at the end of December 2025
