Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published May 2022
Planned review date December 2026
Summary
During 2021, Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) reviewed the unit standards detailed above as part of the review of the: New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery (Level 3) with strands in Machining, and Fabrication [Ref: 2940]; New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery (Estimator) (Level 4) [Ref: 2941]; New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery (Installer) (Level 4) with optional strands in Repairs and Maintenance, and Retrofit Glass [Ref: 2942]; and New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery (Joiner) (Level 4) with optional strand in Computer Numerical Controlled Machinery [Ref: 2943].
Building industry peak bodies and subject matter experts were consulted as part of the review. The National Advisory Group endorsed the changes. Consultation included face to face meetings, on site visits, and follow up emails and phone calls. The review found that the standards were fit for purpose with some minor changes as detailed below.
Main changes
· Unit standard 28752 was expired and replaced by 33032 to meet new industry standards. The credit total was increased from 10 to 15 to reflect the increase in complexity and to allow sufficient time to meet assessment requirements.
· The credit totals for unit standards 28753 and 28769 were increased from 10 to 15 credits following feedback about actual learning and assessment time.
· References were updated.
· Unit standards 556 and 24743 are deemed no longer required by industry and are set to expire without replacement.
· The title of unit standard 551 was updated to better reflect content.
