Summary of review and consultation process
Taranaki Educare Training Trust reviewed the Education Support qualifications in collaboration with and on behalf of its stakeholders, including schools, early childhood settings and providers teaching these qualifications. The purpose of the review was to ensure the suite remains relevant to current and future learners, is fit for purpose and meets the needs of their communities, wider organisations, employers and volunteers. The review aimed to identify any anomalies and ensure clarity, consistency and coherence and confirm the relevance and currency of the qualifications. The needs analysis which informed the initial development of these qualifications remains current. Changes to strengthen the qualifications were supported by stakeholders.
Main changes resulting from the review
Changes for both qualifications: The qualification Graduate Profile Outcomes were updated. The General conditions for programme were updated to include: · Basic te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori and te ao Māori. · Mandatory Practicum hours, set at 120 (minimum) The updates strengthen the qualifications without changing their intent.
