Summary of review and consultation process

The Te Reo Māori me ngā Tikanga qualifications were scheduled and triggered for review in 2021.  The NZQA Website was updated signalling the review and published the Review Plan and Draft Terms of Reference.  The Whakaruruhau Working Review Group (WWRG) members that participated in the review represented te reo Māori me ngā tikanga practitioners, industry, and tertiary providers who deliver programmes leading to the Te Reo Māori me ngā Tikanga qualifications.

An online review hui was conducted on the 26 October 2021.  Consultative development and feedback continued online until the WWRG had ratified the draft proposed qualifications.  The mandatory review ensures the qualifications are relevant, fit for purpose and meet the aspirations and needs of whānau, hapū and iwi.

The WWRG for the qualifications are listed on the Application to List (NZQF8) and wider consultation for feedback and comments was conducted via the NZQA website for a duration of four weeks.

Main changes resulting from the review

Strategic Purpose Statement

Minor changes made to the strategic purpose statement for 3053 to provide clarity.

Graduate Profile Outcomes

Minor changes made to the Graduate Profile Outcome statements for 3051 and 3053 to provide clarity and consistency.

Pathway statements

Further additions made to the Employment, Cultural, Community Pathway sections across all tohu, and minor additions added to the education pathway for 3053.

Guiding Principles

The mātāpono for Mana Whenua was amended for clarity.  Mana reo contains a minor change.

Changes to replace outdated information.
