Date new versions published February 2022
Planned review date December 2026
Summary
The Scaffolding Consultation Group met between February and August 2021 to review the scaffolding standards and to develop new standards required to meet the graduate outcomes of the scaffolding qualifications at Levels 3, 4 and 5. Overall, the unit standards were updated to meet current industry requirements.
Main changes
· The Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 was replaced with the current Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 in the Guidance Information.
· Information related to Good Practice Guidelines 2016 - Scaffolding New Zealand (GPG) from WorkSafe New Zealand was updated.
· A statement on Training and Assessment was added in Guidance Information section across all standards to cover the type of scaffold being erected.
· Performance criteria that were written in a passive voice were changed to an active voice.
· Two new unit standards were developed. Unit standard 32877, to cover the design and erection of proprietary scaffolds, and unit standard 32878 on the induction of owners in the operation of suspended scaffolds.
· Unit standard 20861 was expired and replaced by a new unit standard.
· Credit value of unit standard 26605 was increased from 3 to 4 to better reflect the time required to achieve the competencies.
· Unit standard 20862 was designated expiring and the dismantling of scaffolding was added to a new unit standard.
· Titles of unit standards 9184, 19620 and 26607 were updated to better reflect the outcomes.
· Unit standards were moved to current template.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2023
Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)
CMR was updated from 0183 to 0003.
