Hanga Aro Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published February 2022
Planned review date December 2026
Summary
This review was conducted in conjunction with the development of two new rail infrastructure qualifications:
· New Zealand Certificate in Rail Infrastructure (Level 3) [Ref: 4488]
· New Zealand Certificate in Rail Infrastructure (Level 4) [Ref: 4489]
This review was completed throughout 2021, in consultation with stakeholders through face-to-face and video review meetings. These stakeholders were primarily representatives from the only identified industry user of these standards and qualifications, with numerous technical experts from across the country inputting into the review and development on unit standards.
Fourteen new unit standards have been developed to address gaps in skills and knowledge identified by stakeholders and to align with the requirements of the new Rail Infrastructure qualifications that have been developed.
All feedback received prior to and during the review process was incorporated and endorsed for registration by the stakeholders in September 2021.
Main changes
· Guidance information has been updated across the suite of standards.
· New unit standards 31906 - 31916 have been developed to meet industry needs aligning with the newly developed rail infrastructure qualifications.
· Unit standards 19912, 19916 and 19394 have been expired without replacement due to no longer being required by industry.
· Unit standards 19779, 19785, 19788, 19789 and 19790 received level increases, to better reflect the level of skills, knowledge and responsibly required of learners, aligning with the newly developed rail infrastructure qualifications.
· Unit standard 19779 have received a new title to reflect revised performance criterion.
· Unit standards 19789, 19790 and 19914 have received increases to their level and/or credit value, to better match the time required for learners to gain the skills and knowledge covered by each standard.
· Unit standards 19784, 19785 and 19788 have been expired and replaced by new unit standards 33027, 33028 and 33030 to allow for title changes, level increases to better reflect the level of skills, knowledge and responsibly required of learners, and to better align with the newly developed qualifications.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2024
