NZQA National Qualification Services has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary
The standards were reviewed as part of their scheduled maintenance cycle and in response to feedback that the possibility of using Māori and/or Pasifika contexts for the standards should be made explicit.
All providers with consent to assess were informed of the review, and all those who had used the standards were contacted directly. A representative review panel was convened, who considered the standards and the feedback, and added an explicit statement to every standard, suggesting the possibility of using a Māori or Pasifika context(s) for the standard. Stakeholders in the email supporting network and the public consultation supported the additions.
A similar statement was added to the Teaching and Learning Guide (page 12). The assessment resources were unaffected by the changes. The Guide and the assessment resources are available at Sociology Assessment Support Material » NZQA.
The panel and all stakeholders agreed that no further changes were needed.
Main changes
· The possibility of using Māori and/or Pacific peoples’ contexts was expressed in the standards, to recognise their place and importance in Aotearoa New Zealand society.
