Summary of review and consultation process |
Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council (Ringa Hora) reviewed the above qualifications in October 2022. Consultation was carried out with stakeholders from the security industry, including users, training providers, associations, and security experts. A review panel meeting was held on 10 October 2022. The panel consisted of industry and provider representatives. The panel found that all three qualifications remained fit for purpose with the minor changes as set out in the main changes section below. Following the meeting, the proposed changes were distributed to stakeholders, their feedback was received, and their change recommendations were actioned and endorsed by the panel. The consultation outcome was published on the Ringa Hora website, LinkedIn, and Ed Insider. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
Changes applied across all qualifications included: · A list of legislation was added as a general condition in all qualifications. · A statement to include Te Tiriti o Waitangi and mātauranga Māori was added as a general condition in all qualifications. Specific changes New Zealand Certificate in Security (Foundation) [Ref: 3642] · GPO2 – was updated by separating into two outcomes to encapsulate professional and legislation. · GPO4 – was updated by deleting corporate sensitivity as this falls within privacy and specific client requirements. · GPO5 – was updated by deleting in order to carry out security work, including working in isolation. · Other requirements – COA training was updated from highly recommended in programmes, to a prerequisite or embedded. New Zealand Certificate in Security (Intermediate) [Ref: 3643] · GPO2 – staff was replaced with operational security teams. Lead changed to Lead and manage. · GPO4 – legislation was changed to New Zealand legislation. · Title was updated from advanced to intermediate to reflect the updated purpose statement. · Strategic purpose statement – advanced was replaced with intermediate. · Other requirements – COA training was updated from highly recommended in programmes, to a prerequisite or embedded. New Zealand Diploma in Security [Ref: 3644] · Strategic Purpose statement – Deletion of the security sector with. Security officer was replaced with security professional. In the security industry or who would like to gain recognition for current industry experience’ was replaced with in the wider security environment. · General Conditions - Providers must ensure that operational security plans are in accordance with good security industry practice both in New Zealand and internationally, was added for context. · For clarification, the following specialised security management practices have been added: Emergency Management/Business Continuity, Security Consultant – Special Risks (Terrorism), Security Consultant – Electronic Security, Professional Investigations, Security Consultant – Crowded Places. · Education Pathway was updated. · GPO1 – GPO5 wording was updated to include more clarity and context. · GPO6 – was updated to Appraise specialised security management techniques to add more clarity and context. |
