Date new versions published                                                               April 2023

Planned review date                                                                              December 2026

Summary

Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council rolled over and revised three of the food safety unit standards due for review in 2023.  The purpose of the rollover and revision was to determine whether the standards were and continued to be relevant and fit for purpose, and to extend the planned review date to December 2026 to align with the other food safety unit standards 167 and 20666.

The consultation process for the rollover and revision of these unit standards was conducted from February 2023 - March 2023 and confirmed that these unit standards are considered fit for purpose.

Making significant changes to the standards now will impact providers’ programmes and assessment materials.  With skills standards and micro-credentials being developed in the coming years, there is little benefit in making significant changes to these unit standards at this time.

Main changes

·      Standard setting body contact details were amended from ServiceIQ to Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council.

·      Unit standard 168 was updated to reflect minor changes to performance criteria, and several range statements were moved to Guidance Information.  The intent of the outcomes remains the same, as does the evidence to meet the performance criteria.  This should make design of assessment tasks to meet outcomes more straightforward.

·      Guidance Information 3 for unit standard 15275 was updated to reflect evidence for practical components must be gathered in accordance with establishment requirements.

·      Outcome 2 statement and performance criteria for unit standard 15275 were amended to align with the unit standard title.

·      Title of unit standard 27955 was amended to align with the outcomes.

·      Minor changes were made to unit standard 27955 Outcome 1 performance criteria and range statements, and the addition of a new performance criterion 2.1.

·      Guidance Information was updated so that definitions are listed in alphabetical order.

·      Planned review date was extended from 31 December 2023 to 31 December 2026 to align with the planned review date of other unit standards in the domain.
