Summary of review and consultation process

Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council reviewed the three qualifications listed above in June 2022.  A sector advisory group (SAG) was formed from industry and provider representatives to consider these qualifications.  Six meetings were held on Teams between August and December 2022.

The SAG advised that the qualifications remained fit for purpose and relevant to industry needs, with some minor changes to better reflect applied practice.  These changes were actioned, and the qualifications were approved by industry and the provider via email.

Main changes resulting from the review

·      The qualification documents were updated to align to the new NZQA template format.

·      The Level 2 qualification above was made a prerequisite of the Level 3 qualification, and the Level 3 qualification was made a prerequisite of the Level 4 qualification, to formalise existing industry practice.

·      The health and safety graduate profile outcome (GPO) in the Level 3 and 4 qualifications were removed because they replicated the health and safety requirements in Level 2 and were considered redundant.

·      In the Level 3 qualification, the credits for GPO 2 (now GPO 1) were reduced from 10 credits to 5 credits.

·       In the Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, GPOs 3 and 4 were conflated into a single GPO because of duplication between levels.

·       In the Level 4 qualification GPOs 1 and 2 were removed because they were duplicated in Level 3.  The credits were reallocated to the remaining two GPOs.
