Summary of review and consultation process

Representatives of Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council met with representatives of employers from the electrotechnology industry and providers between September and October 2022 to undertake a combined review of the qualifications.

Meetings were conducted online to discuss if there had been any industry changes and review whether the qualifications needed to be updated.

The review panel consensus was that the New Zealand Certificate in Electrotechnology (Level 3) with strands in Installation, and Service [Ref: 2767-1] was relevant and up to date, with minor changes.

The review panel discussed New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Installation and Service) (Level 4) with strands in Domestic Systems and Products, Commercial Equipment, and Consumer Electronics [Ref: 2768-1]  which was created in June 2015. It has never had a programme leading to it, or learners, and the providers of related qualifications have no plans to develop one. The consensus was that this qualification is no longer required by industry and would be expired. The expiry will not impact learner pathways into the sector.
