Summary of review and consultation process |
The qualification review was triggered early by the New Zealand Federation of Piling Specialists (FPSNZ) from industry feedback indicating the qualification coverage for the target group of learners should include both infrastructure and construction pilers. Employers and industry representatives were consulted to address the issue and to ensure the qualification was relevant and fit for purpose. Consultation documents were published on the Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council Website from September through to October 2022. A Technical Advisory group with representatives from the piling industry considered the feedback at Advisory group meetings from September to November. Meetings were conducted online, and the recommendations informed the qualification review and amendments were made where appropriate. The wider Civil Advisory Group was consulted on 22 November for final feedback. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure (Piling) (Level 4) [Ref: 3966] (Credits 150) - Infrastructure was removed from the title of the qualification to enable both construction and infrastructure industry personnel to achieve the qualification. - Strategic purpose statement and graduate profile outcomes were amended to ensure personnel in both construction and infrastructure industries who install piles can achieve the qualification; - Education pathway was amended to include the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3) with optional strand in Plant Operation [Ref: 3856] and the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3) [Ref: 4440] as a pathway into this qualification. - Credit totals were amended to respond to industry feedback on the notional hours of learning and assessment for graduate profile outcomes three and four. - Evidence requirements for assuring consistency, and general conditions for the programme were updated to reflect NZQA requirements for listing. |
