Summary of review and consultation process |
Waihanga Ara Rau and representatives from the bitumen surfacing industry and Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ) reviewed this qualification during October and November 2022. Feedback from the Qualification Consistency Review recommended minor changes to graduate profile outcome two and the skills and knowledge required by the level four graduate. Employers and industry representatives were consulted to address the issue and to ensure the qualification is relevant and fit for purpose. Consultation documents were published on the Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council Website in November 2022. A technical advisory group with representatives from the bitumen surfacing industry and CCNZ considered the feedback at advisory group meetings. Meetings were conducted online, the recommendations informed the qualification review, and amendments were made to the qualification content. The wider Civil Advisory Group was consulted on for final feedback. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
- Strategic purpose statement was amended to remove the wording ‘dynamic and high-risk’ and ‘coordinate’ to clarify the graduate scope of practice. - Graduate profile outcome (GPO) 2 was amended to address the recommendation from the consistency review. - GPO 3 was amended to include the skills and knowledge required to identify and assess risk. - GPO 4 was amended in line with the revised strategic purpose statement to remove the word ‘coordinate’ to clarify the graduate scope of practice. - Education pathway was amended to include the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3) with optional strand in Plant Operation [Ref: 3856] and the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3) [Ref: 4440]. - Evidence requirements for assuring consistency, and general conditions for the programme were updated to reflect NZQA requirements. |
