Summary
Muka Tangata - People, Food and Fibre Workforce Development Council reviewed Equine and Horticulture unit standards to ensure they remained fit for purpose.
Muka Tangata reviewed equine industry unit standard 1658 and Horticulture nursery unit standard 20560 which were overdue for review. Muka Tangata also expired 12 unit standards due to low usage and informed consent to assess holders.
Consultation was carried out in October 2022 where consent to assess holders and stakeholders had the opportunity to give comment on the email sent asking for feedback to amendments. This feedback was addressed where appropriate.
Main changes
· Unit standard 1658 title was amended to better align with the content and the level increased to level 2 to reflect the training required for entry level roles across the equine sector.
· Performance criteria were updated to ensure the unit standard remained fit for purpose.
· Guidance information section was updated for currency and to better reflect industry requirements.
· Twelve unit standards were expired from subfield Horticulture 10941, 10943, 10946, 10951, 10953, 10954, 10955, 20561, 20564, 20568, 20569 and 20572.
Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2023
Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)
CMR of unit standard 1658 was changed from 0018 to 0052 and CMR of unit standard 20560 was changed from 0032 to 0052.
