Summary of review and consultation process

This qualification was initially developed by Skills Active Aotearoa (Skills Active), in collaboration with an industry led sector reference group driven by Entertainment Technology New Zealand (ETNZ).  The qualification, and associated unit standards, are currently only offered in a work-based learning environment through Skills Active.  The review of the qualification was also held in collaboration with ETNZ, the Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ), and a wider range of industry subject matter experts and providers.

Input and feedback from key stakeholders were invited and incorporated into the review and qualification development process.  Key phases in the process included:

·         Pre-review survey on Toi Mai’s website.

·         Formation of an advisory group followed by two online advisory group meetings to discuss and receive their feedback and work through the review of the qualification and unit standards.

·         Open public consultation – via the Toi Mai website and through advisory group networks.

·         Stakeholder endorsement of review outcomes – via email and online meetings.

Minor changes were made as a result of the review to allow for a broader application within the entertainment and event industry.  This will ensure this continues to be a well utilised relevant work-based qualification, which may also be delivered in a provider environment in the future.

Main changes resulting from the review

·       Graduate profile outcomes (GPOs) have been reworded to ensure alignment with the different operations roles in the event and entertainment industry, i.e. front of house, back of house, technical and non-technical.

Where GPOs referred to “entertainment and event operations roles”, this has been amended to “entertainment or event operations roles”.  This is to acknowledge that learners may work in either performance or event venues.

·       Wording in other sections in the qualification document have been updated to provide current and clear information.
