Summary

This review was undertaken as part of the planned cycle of review of Māori Qualifications Services (MQS) unit standards.

At a hui held on 25 and 26 August 2022, MQS along with Whakaruruhau reviewed the subfield Te Ara Hou ki te Ora, domain Whānau Ora unit standards to ensure they remain fit for purpose, current, relevant and meet the aspirations and needs of ākonga, as well as whānau, hapū, and iwi. Whakaruruhau endorsed all amendments to the standards.

Category D unit standard 31180 will expire at the end of December 2024.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is 31 December 2024.

Main changes

·         Titles were changed to all standards for clarity, currency, and relevance to Whānau Ora.

·         Guidance Information was amended to meet the needs of the sector and provide more information for the users of the standards.

·         Outcomes were removed from standards 30617, 30622, 30623, 30624 and 31179. Whakaruruhau considered those standards had too much content and the outcomes removed were not required. The reviewed standard would be an improved product. It was considered that the number of notional learning hours still met the credit weighting of the standards, i.e. credit values were not changed.

·         Standard 31180 will expire as it is too similar to standard 31178 at the same level.

·         Minor wording changes have been made to provide clarity for users.

·         Grammatical errors have been corrected.
