Summary of development/review and consultation process |
Key qualification review, development and consultation phases: Input and feedback from key stakeholders was invited and incorporated into the review and qualification developments. Key phases in the process included: • Pre-review survey on Toi Mai’s website • Industry wide wānānga in September 2022 to gather feedback about training for the industry. • Formation of an advisory group followed by advisory group meetings held online in November and December 2022, and February 2023 to discuss and receive their feedback and work through the review of the qualifications. • Open public consultation from March through to May 2023– via the Toi Mai website and through advisory group networks. • Stakeholder endorsement of review outcomes – via email and online meetings. |

New Zealand Diploma in Screen Production (Level 5) [Ref: 3212] · Strategic purpose updated to include television and game industries. · Graduate profile updated to better reflect what learners will do and be. This includes: o GPO 6 updated o GPO 7 updated to include wellbeing practices. o Employment pathways updated to include game design and remove some non-applicable pathways. · Academic entry removed and replaced with a recommendation for providers to ensure potential learners are advised about the nature and outcomes of the qualification. · General conditions updated strengthening requirements around diversity and inclusion, legislation, and to ensure ongoing industry engagement occurs in programmes of learning.
New Zealand Diploma in Screen Production (Level 6) [Ref: 3213] · Strategic purpose updated to include television and game industries. Removed the statement about specialising. · Graduate profile updated to better reflect what learners will do and be, and to align with revised level 5 qualification: o GPO 1 creative knowledge added. o GPO 3 updated and credit value decreased. o GPO 5 credit value increased to put more emphasis on problem solving skills. o GPO 6 updated. o GPO 7 updated to include wellbeing practices. o Employment pathways updated to include game design.
· Academic entry removed and replaced with a general condition recommending learners hold the NZ Diploma in Screen Production (Level 5) or equivalent knowledge. · General conditions updated strengthening requirements around diversity and inclusion, legislation and to ensure ongoing industry engagement occurs in programmes of learning.

Version Information Version 2 of this qualification was published in June 2023 following a scheduled review. Please refer to Qualifications and Assessment Standards Approvals for further information. The last date of assessment for programmes leading to version 1 of this qualification is 31 December 2025. People currently enrolled in programmes leading to version 1 of this qualification may either complete that qualification before 31 December 2025 or transfer to version 2. It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Toi Mai Workforce Development Council at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
