Development of Commercial Road Transport unit standard 33277
Hanga-Aro-Rau Workforce Development Council has completed the development of a new unit standard listed above.
Date new version published June 2023
Planned review date 31 December 2028
Summary
Hanga-Aro-Rau Workforce Development Council undertook a combined review of the Commercial
Road Transport (CRT) qualifications and unit standards in consultation with industry
stakeholders.
Smaller technical advisory groups were formed to review specialised areas of CRT, such as groundspreading. Consultation meetings were held online throughout September 2022 – May 2023 with representatives from the industry association GroundspreadNZ, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, employers and training providers. Feedback from industry stakeholders identified a need for training in practical heavy vehicle recovery skills. This resulted in the development of a new unit standard and is intended to be used towards a newly developed micro-credential in heavy vehicle recovery skills.
Main changes
A new level 4 unit standard was developed to meet industry need for heavy vehicle
recovery skills, which can be applied in either on-road or off-road environments.
It is intended for recovery events where
a vehicle (V) endorsement is not required. This unit standard does not replace
the V endorsement.
