Summary of review and consultation process

These qualifications are currently provided by one tertiary education provider.  This review centred on their feedback and engagement with key industry stakeholders from the commercial diving sector, as well as ensuring this qualification continues to meet Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme (ADAS) course requirements. 

Industry is satisfied that the qualification meets their needs and aligns to the current Health and Safety legislation and the requirements of AS/NZS 2815 and 2299. 

 

Main changes resulting from the review

Changes made to the New Zealand Certificate in Surface Supplied Breathing Apparatus (SSBA) Construction Diving to 30 metres (Level 4) include:

·      decrease of one credit to overall qualification credit total from 66 to 65 credits

·      some graduate profile outcomes (GPOs) have been merged.  The qualification now has 4 GPOs rather than 6, and some credit values have been adjusted to align with this change.

·      conditions relating to GPO 1 amended to now state that this GPO may include enriched air application and must include at least one compression chamber dive.

Changes made to the New Zealand Certificate in Surface Supplied Breathing Apparatus (SSBA) Construction Diving to 50 metres (Level 5) include: 

·      increase of one credit to overall qualification credit from 44 to 45 credits

·      credit value of some GPOs amended.
