Summary of review and consultation process |
The suite of Tourism and Travel qualifications created as part of the Targeted Review of Tourism Qualifications and listed in February 2014, were scheduled for review by December 2018. Due to the disruptions that the COVID-19 pandemic has been having on the Tourism sector, and the new development of Tourism achievement standards work being convened by the Ministry of Education as part of the Review of Achievement Standards (RAS), this qualification was not included in the earlier review by Service IQ of other Tourism qualifications in 2020-21. Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council have engaged with the sector since late 2021 and throughout 2022 and obtained feedback to inform the review, and an expert panel was convened to review the qualification and recommend changes. There have been sufficient completions of the qualification between 2016 and 2021 to support its maintenance with minor changes to ensure currency. Wider consultation around the proposed changes was carried out 22 November – 14 December 2022, which confirmed support for the proposed changes. |
