Summary
The review commenced in late October 2022 to check and update the above listed unit standards to meet current racing industry requirements. A working group, including racing industry stakeholders, and the only provider who is currently assessing against the unit standards, was convened to discuss the content of these unit standards.
A further meeting, including the Muka Tangata WDC - Mātanga Tohu Aro Whānui – Qualifications and Standards Advisor Māori, was convened to ensure the requirements for te ao Māori were reflected. These requirements were further discussed with relevant internal and external partners who also agreed to include this in the unit standards. A statement was added to the Guidance Information in all unit standards to ensure requirements for te ao Māori were embedded across all outcomes.
Unit standards were out for wider consultation with stakeholders in the racing industry between late December 2022 and January 2023. Minor changes were received and incorporated in consultation with the working group.
Main changes
· Statement on te ao Māori was included in all unit standards in Guidance Information.
· Minor changes were made to unit standards 23971, 29178, and 32879 to reflect current industry requirements.
· Minor changes were made to unit standard 1599 and the credits were increased from 25 to 30 to more accurately reflect time taken to learn and be assessed against the outcomes.
· Minor changes were made to unit standard 23969 and the credits were reduced from 35 to 30 to more accurately reflect time taken to learn and be assessed against the outcomes.
· The title was amended for unit standard 1663 to more accurately reflect content.
· Outcome Two of unit standard 29176 was split into two outcomes to clarify requirements.
· The title of unit standard 32879 was amended to more accurately reflect content, and credits were increased from 6 to 10 to more accurately reflect time taken to learn and be assessed against the outcomes.
· Changes were made to the content of unit standard 32880 and its title was amended to reflect amended content.
