Muka Tangata – People, Food and Fibre Workforce Development Council has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published May 2023
Planned review date December 2028
Summary
The review commenced in late November 2022 to update unit standards to meet current thoroughbred racing industry requirements. A working group made up of thoroughbred racing industry stakeholders was convened. The content of unit standards was discussed.
A further meeting was convened and included the Muka Tangata - Mātanga Tohu Aro Whānui – Qualifications and Standards Advisor Māori to ensure the requirements for te ao Māori were reflected. A statement was discussed both internally and externally with relevant partners, agreed, and subsequently added to the Guidance Information in all unit standards to ensure requirements for te ao Māori were embedded across all outcomes.
Unit standards were out for wider consultation with stakeholders in the racing industry in late February 2022 and March 2023. Minor changes were received and incorporated in consultation with the working group.
Main changes
· Statement on te ao Māori included in all unit standards in Guidance Information to ensure these requirements are included across all outcomes.
· Minimum requirements for assessment added to the range of performance criteria for unit standard 1654.
· Minor changes to content of unit standard 23970.
· Unit standard 24891 was reinstated from expiring as there were no existing unit standards with the required content. Minor changes were made to content to reflect current requirements.
· Three new unit standards were developed to meet qualification Graduate Profile Outcomes (GPOs).
