Summary of review and consultation process |
This early review was initiated by a provider to resolve an inconsistency that existed in the qualification and was a barrier to people who were not working in the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI). This inconsistency was between the Strategic Purpose Statement and the Other Requirements sections. The ESI has known that people who are in an administrative capacity do not require a Trainee Limited Certificate. The Technical Advisory Group (TAG) recommended the removal of the statement in ‘other requirements’. The TAG for Telecommunications, in a meeting held in August of 2020 had asked for the deletion of the Telecommunications strand from this qualification because the New Zealand Certificate in Telecommunications (Level 3) with strands in Copper Network Maintenance, Optical Fibre Network, and Transmission [Ref: 3767] is the minimum standard to work on the access telecommunication network. The reviewed qualification was circulated to stakeholders by email and the changes published on Waihanga Ara Rau’s website and no further correspondence was received. |
Main changes resulting from the review process |
· The Qualification Developer was updated from Connexis Infrastructure ITO to Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council. · The Telecommunications strand of the qualification was removed. · The New Zealand Certificate in Wind Farm Maintenance (Level 3) [Ref: 4261] replaced the Level 4 qualification in the education pathway. · Condition in ‘other requirements’ was removed to allow entry for learners without a Trainee Limited Certificate. · Evidence requirements for assuring consistency were changed to align with other qualifications. |
