Date new version published                                                                 September 2023

Planned review date (no change)                                                         December 2027

Summary

The revision of this unit standard was undertaken in conjunction with the development of a new micro-credential in consultation with representatives from PrintNZ (the industry association), training providers and employers.  Consultation took place online from November 2022 to July 2023.  The new micro-credential is designed to accommodate sheet-fed, reel-fed and screen printing processes.  To enable the inclusion of screen printing in this micro-credential, a credit value change is required.

Feedback from industry stakeholders identified that the content of the unit standard 16795 is comparable to equivalent unit standards in sheet-fed and reel-fed printing.  Industry stakeholders confirmed 6 credits are an accurate reflection of learning and assessment hours required for the set of printing unit standards.

Main changes

·      Unit standard 16795 credit value has been decreased from 8 to 6 credits to align with equivalent substrate handling unit standards across the Printing suite, and to enable the inclusion of screen printing in a new micro-credential.

·      The last date for assessment of version 4 has been set to 31 December 2025.
