Summary
The review of unit standards was conducted in conjunction with the review of:
· New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Textile Fabrication (Level 3) [Ref: 2543]
· New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Textile Fabrication (Level 4) [Ref: 2544].
Hanga-Aro-Rau completed a combined review of the Industrial Textile Manufacturing qualifications in response to a request from industry. The technical advisory group consisted of MAST Academy and representatives from industry covering both fabrication and trimming. The review identified the need for the Level 4 qualification to provide the ability for specialist fabrication or trimming skills. and subsequently two strands were developed: Fabrication and Trimming. Skill standards were then developed to align with the reviewed qualification.
Main changes
· Seven new skill standards were developed for Level 4 core skills replacing 10 unit standards.
· Three new skill standards were developed for Level 4 core skills to reflect current industry practice.
· Four new skill standards were developed to meet the requirements of the Fabrication and Trimming strands in the New Zealand Certificate in Advanced Textiles (Level 4).
· 10 unit standards are expiring without replacement as they are no longer fit for purpose.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2026
