Summary
This review was undertaken as part of the planned cycle of review of Toi Mai unit standards.
A Puna Whāngai/Advisory Group was brought together to review the unit standards. The Puna Whāngai comprised of the national waka ama body and representatives from providers and waka ama clubs. In-person and online meetings were held to review and confirm changes to the standards.
Feedback on the current and reviewed standards was gathered from stakeholders through an open consultation process via the Toi Mai website.
Main changes
· The sole outcome of unit standard 30811 has been incorporated into unit standard 30810.
· The overall credits for the new standard have been reduced to 12 credits to better reflect the time required for teaching, learning and assessment.
· The standard setting body has been updated to Toi Mai Workforce Development Council.
Category D unit standard will expire at the end of December 2025
