Date new version published January 2024
Planned review date January 2028
Summary
This standard was developed at the request of industry. As part of the scheduled review of the first aid standards 6400, 6401 and 6402 Toitū te Waiora engaged and consulted widely across industry and interested parties between February and October 2022. It was identified during this review that there was a need for a unit standard which would allow people with disabilities to have their knowledge and skills recognised for being able to instruct another person how to perform basic life support including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
This unit standard reduces the inequity that currently exists, for learners who are unable to physically perform basic first aid and life support themselves.
