Summary of development/review and consultation process |
Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering, and Logistics Workforce Development Council met with employers, Te Pūkenga subsidiaries and representatives from the Motor Trades Association between June 2023 and March 2024 to review the qualification and associated unit standards. Online meetings were held fortnightly to discuss industry training needs. Feedback from industry stakeholders confirmed that the Level 3 qualification was generally working as intended, however, they identified a need for a Level 4 qualification to encourage skill development and career progression within the sector. This would also enable people to move into other roles within the industry, such as a parts or equipment sales representative. The New Zealand Certificate in Parts and Accessories (Level 4) was developed in consultation with industry and combines advanced parts interpretation and sales skills with relationship management and business operational knowledge for the automotive parts and accessories sector. As a result of the development of the Level 4 qualification, the credit value of the New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Parts and Accessories (Level 3) was decreased from 140 to 120 credits to better reflect the notional teaching and assessment. |
