Summary of development/review and consultation process

Engagement around the review of the qualification was undertaken late 2023. Wider consultation was carried out early 2024.

There have only been two completions of the qualification between 2016 and 2021 and it was explored whether it was worthwhile maintaining the qualification or if it should be discontinued and/or alternative education/training products developed, such as micro-credentials or a strand in a generic Tourism qualification, at the appropriate level.

Consultation with stakeholders confirmed that the qualification would be fit for purpose with some changes made to credits and graduate profile outcomes (GPOs) to reflect changes in the culture of tourism organisations.

The final draft was circulated back to the stakeholder group for any further feedback and confirmation of accuracy, which was then followed up with the draft being posted onto the Ringa Hora website seeking any additional feedback or comments.

Support for the reviewed qualification was obtained from stakeholders.

Main changes resulting from the development/review process

· Qualification credits decreased from 45 credits to 40 credits, to better meet the needs of industry, and reflect the notional learning and assessment.

· GPOs had minor changes made, without affecting the intent.

· GPO 1 credits increased from 5 credits to 10, to better reflect the needs of industry.

· GPO 2 credits reduced from 25 credits to 15 credits, to better meet the needs of industry.

· Amendments to qualification and programme conditions and requirements.

· Updates to the assuring consistency requirements.
