Summary of development and consultation process |
|
This qualification is a new development that was overseen by Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council in conjunction with the New Zealand Demolition and Asbestos Association (NZDAA) and representatives from the demolition industry. The qualification was driven by the need expressed by industry for quality training that acknowledges the unique skills required in demolition. Waihanga Ara Rau consulted with numerous industry representatives across Aotearoa New Zealand early in 2023, with the data taken to the Demolition Technical Advisory Group for analysis and consideration. Meetings were held over six months from April 2023 to draft the qualification. The draft qualification was put out to the wider demolition industry for consultation in November 2023 and all respondents supported listing of the qualification in its current form. The approved qualification includes mandatory skill standards listed in the Conditions relating to the graduate profile. Programmes leading to the award of the qualification must use these. Where skill standards do not map, or map partially, to the GPO outcomes/indicative credits, programmes may include unit standards, micro-credentials, or components. Further mandatory skill standards may be included at a later time. |
