NZQA National Qualifications Services has completed the review of the English for Academic Purposes unit standards listed above.

Summary
NZQA National Qualification Services (NQS), reviewed the above English for Academic Purposes (EAP) unit standards as part of their regular quality assurance cycle.
The review was conducted between March and December 2023. To ensure cross-sector representation, a working group representative from the secondary and tertiary sectors was selected to review the standards. Members came from NZQA Assessment and Moderation team and from the following institutions: Ara Institute of Canterbury, English Teaching College, ESOL online, Riccarton High School, Rutherford High School, Unitec, University of Waikato and peak bodies (NZCEL providers forum, TESOLANZ).
At all significant stages, stakeholders were kept informed and invited to contribute to the review. This included a pre-review survey for programme providers and full sector consultation in November 2023.
Main changes
· Reference number to the relevant qualification hasbeen included.
· Guidance information across the standards has been updated to reference the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) with a link to the structured overview of all CEFR related scales.
· New definitions have been added.
· Titles and outcomes, performance criteria and range statements have been modified to better reflect the purpose of the standards.
· The reference to Coxhead has been removed.
· Word count requirements for unit standards 22751 and 30511 have been reduced.
· Time duration requirements for unit standards 22749, 30507 and 30510 have been amended.
